I grew up on a farm in Devon. I qualified as an accountant and lived and worked in London for over 20 years. I'm now based in Cambridge and I work as a Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist.
I have been practising yoga since I was 16. My Mum gave me my first yoga book. I hadn't even heard of yoga but I was intrigued and started to try a few of the poses in the book. Yoga has been part of my life ever since.
I didn't have access to regular yoga classes growing up. However, I still started a regular practice and learned more about yoga as I went along. My practice helped to give me a sense of calm through my teenage years and a sense of achievement as my practice developed. The benefits I gained from yoga as I grew up prompted me to train to teach teenagers and children as well as adults.
My most recent training was with Susi Hately to qualify as Yoga Therapist. Working with Susi was a long-held ambition and the qualification has given the skills to help my clients on many different levels. I am a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT).
In 2016, I qualified as a British Wheel of Yoga Teacher after training with Catherine Annis and Kate Ellis. My work with Catherine and Kate led to my own style becoming more therapeutic and it was a natural step for me to go on to qualify as a Yoga Therapist.
I work with clients therapeutically on a one-to-one basis helping with a wide range of issues including pain management, recovery from injuries, illnesses and general improvements to health and wellbeing. I also teach small group classes.
I am constantly amazed how the application of the tools we get from yoga can have such a huge impact on my clients lives. I teach in-person and online, via Zoom.
My approach is to to understand my clients’ individual interests, aspirations and needs. This allows for continuity in helping my clients develop their practice and to meet their objectives.
As well as yoga, I enjoy playing tennis, badminton and keeping fit by walking and using the gym. This interest in sport and fitness led me to train with Hayley Winter and to qualify to teach yoga to athletes and others who enjoy sport at any level. Within this, I aim to provide a more tailored approach to yoga that complements their sport and training routines.
